A neighborhood café opened on Halloween by a Tufts graduate and her mother's baking — and fifteen years later, still the best place to sit in Larchmont Village.
Jinah Kim opened Bricks & Scones on October 31, 2009 — Halloween — in Larchmont Village, one of LA's most walkable and community-minded neighborhoods. A Tufts University graduate, Jinah built the café around a simple belief: a neighborhood café should genuinely feel like the neighborhood.
At the center of the café is Jinah's mother, who bakes on-site every morning. The fig and rosemary scone — the café's signature — is her recipe. Not inspired by it. Her recipe, made by her hands, every morning.
Fifteen years later, the café has two floors, a dog-friendly garden patio, a book swap on the second floor, and the same warmth it opened with. Intelligentsia coffee and Lupicia tea complete the picture.
A neighborhood café should make you feel like you belong in the neighborhood. That's it. That's the whole idea.
